Strengthening Our Party
In order to build a movement that fights for regular Canadians and confronts the billionaire class, we need to invest in our party’s readiness to enact the change we want to see in the world.
Green Governance
We want to ensure our party is governed effectively, so that we can earn the trust of Canadians to support the Greens they elect across the country.
We’ll do this by…
- Taking inspiration from provincial Greens across Canada that are already extremely well-governed,
- Reforming Federal Council to be smaller, more focused, and more aligned with proportional representation of party members,
- Committing to a return to in-person conventions,while still allowing online participation,
- Amending the party’s Constitution to clarify how budgetary decisions are made by the party, and
- Fulsomely engaging with members to identify, discuss, and prioritize any additional changes that could further improve our governance.
A Pathway to Success for Every Riding
We will give every riding in the country a pathway to success while targeting our most winnable ridings in each election, building every riding’s capacity for future growth.
Each riding will be grouped into one of four priority tiers with a specific goal related to earning their community’s trust to represent them:
- Winning their riding,
- Placing 2nd,
- Earning 10% of the vote and,
- Earning 2% of the vote.
We want to inspire volunteers across the country to rally around our best opportunities to get more Greens elected, while building a pipeline of riding candidates who have increasing odds of eventually winning their seat.
We’ll do this by…
- Transparently sharing these priority tiers with every electoral district association (EDA) in the country, so they have a pathway not only to meet their current goals in the upcoming election, but also build towards winning a seat in Parliament over multiple election cycles;
- Ensuring all EDAs can evaluate themselves against consistent metrics that place them in one of the four tiers, so that they know what to work on in order to make progress;
- Unlocking more support beyond standard resources as the EDA moves from its current tier up through priority tiers towards winning their riding;
- Focusing leadership positions across the party – from Deputy Leaders to Shadow Cabinet – on ridings and candidates in priority 1 and 2 ridings;
- Remaining laser-focused on how Greens win in Canada: by attracting strong community leaders who want to be a voice for their neighbours in Ottawa, united by shared values but with a mandate to be a voice for their community, not a mouthpiece for their party, and
- Prioritizing those candidates to consider committing to running over several election cycles
Green Leadership in Parliament
All Greens benefit when our Leader is in the House of Commons. Kitchener Centre will benefit if Mike is leader, giving him even more opportunities to speak up for his home riding, and for Waterloo Region, on the national stage. We will win back Kitchener Centre at the first opportunity, to ensure Greens are represented in Ottawa to the utmost.
We’ll do this by…
- Having a leader who is already nominated, and has previously served his riding as an MP,
- Having a leader who is committed to successfully returning as MP for Kitchener Centre at the first opportunity, never parachuting into another riding,
- Marshalling a committed group that’s ready to win in Kitchener Centre, with 3,000 doors knocked since the 2025 election, almost 200 supporting monthly donors, and an active EDA and leadership group that’s been guiding local campaign efforts since September 2025, and
- Doing what’s necessary to bring our leader back to the English and French national leaders’ debates.
